Can I use a tripod mount with the Cotton Carrier Camera System? Last Updated: 02/07/2010
Yes, the Cotton Carrier can also be used with many of the popular tripod systems, but you must purchase an additional Quick Release Clamp from us (the Cotton Carrier Quick Release Clamp) or through your tripod manufacturer.

In short, you need to match whatever camera plate your tripod head is using. The Cotton Carrier Camera Hub will mount onto any quick release adapter or clamp that has a 1/4" threaded hole on the underside. Some products require (or include) a 1/4" to 3/8" threading bushing.
EXAMPLES:
If you use the Kirk, Arca-Swiss, Markins, Wimberley, Burzynski, Novoflex, Acratech and Really Right Stuff* or other tripod systems using Arca-Swiss styled plates consider the Cotton Carrier Quick Release Clamp made by Kirk, which features a threaded 1/4" hole (available for sale in our web store)
*If you already own a Really Right Stuff quick release clamp such as the B2-40 LR or B2-mAS which has a non-threaded hole, you will need to order our Really Right Stuff (RRS) Adapter Kit.
IMPORTANT: Along with using an Allen Key and screw driver to secure your Cotton Carrier Quick Release Clamp to the Cotton Carrier Hub, we strongly recommend you use a NON-PERMANENT, PLASTIC SAFE THREAD LOCKER (consult your local hardware store for a suitable product).
You must continue to use your neck strap loosely as an added measure of security until you are totally satisfied that the camera hub is securely threaded into the tripod mount or camera body, and at all times when using your Cotton Carrier under active situations (mountain biking, hiking, skiing, etc.).
